If it’s a pair of speakers you need for your workplace, the Audioengine A2+ might be the one for you. They’re like miniature speakers that you see people use for their TVs. One thing you have to know, though, is that the Audioengine A2+ left quite an impression on us. We were blown away by it.
Please see below for our detailed review of the device. You might want a pair of your own afterwards, too.
Audioengine A2+: DESIGN
The Audioengine A2+ has a compact design. Each one’s measurements are 6H x 4W x 5.2L in inches. The active speaker, typically the left one, weighs 3.5 pounds, while the right speaker weighs only 3.1 pounds. The slight difference in their weights is due to the subwoofer and features on the active speaker. Either way, you can fit these speakers almost in any corner of your house–be it your room, the kitchen, or the living room.
On the left speaker is where you’ll find the ports, power connector, and other inputs. A 3.5mm audio jack, stereo RCA, and USB-C and USB-A ports are compatible with the speaker.
The speakers have a flamboyant high-gloss material covering them, giving off a classy air around them despite their design looking retro. Your typical plastic rubber-like material also covers their woofers. There’s that usual small round woofer on top of the bigger round woofer on the speaker. The bigger woofer is covered with a metallic grill, as well–to which you’re able to feel the vibration of the song you’re streaming when you press your palm against it.
Audioengine A2+: FEATURES
The Audioengine A2+, given its design, has an updated Bluetooth Connectivity of 5.0–this itself already was an impressive feat. The speaker’s frequency range is 65Hz-22kHz with 60W power, ensuring great sound quality and connection.
Unlike your typical portable speakers, the Audioengine A2+ doesn’t feature Voice Assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The speaker can withstand sprinkles of water as long you don’t soak or submerge it in water. It’s for casual use and can still be for small parties, especially when you want to go old school with the occasion. Still, it’s good to note that the Audioengine A2+ is not akin to today’s popular portable speakers. But that doesn’t take the Audioengine A2+’s charm away, especially when it packs a pretty powerful sound.
Audioengine A2+: SOUND QUALITY
The Audioengine A2+’s sound quality was what impressed us the most. Despite its size, you manage to get the full experience with whatever movie or song you’re streaming! There’s a powerful bass and treble enough to make the surface tremble. The bass is thick and booming sufficient to make you want to bop your head along with the music. It’s easy to immerse yourself in the music’s vibe with these speakers.
Although their design makes them perfect for your laptop or PC, you can also use the speakers for your TV.
Streaming songs with big bass gives the Audioengine A2+ its chance to shine by doing its job properly. If you stream slow songs, such as love songs, the audio becomes delicate and well-balanced enough that you’ll feel the low bass crawling through your skin. Yes, the Audioengine A2+ is very pleasant to the ears. But, there’s an audiophile among the team, and they didn’t find the speaker impressive. It is a piece of information we believe is important to include, especially if you’re an audiophile yourself.
Audioengine A2+: PRICE
The Audioengine A2+ is available on Amazon for $299. The speaker offers three colours for you to choose from–Red, Black, and White. These are pretty good options, especially when you have a neutral theme going on.
Audioengine A2+: VERDICT
The Audioengine A2+ is impressive, especially the sound quality. This pair of speakers is for those who want a neat set-up at home for their PCs or laptops. It’s fit for gaming, even, but maybe not the cup of tea of some streamers. If you’re a casual user of portable speakers but want the best quality without worrying if it’ll wear out in a few months, the Audioengine A2+ is good for you. If you’re looking for something more advanced with more features to offer, then we suggest you try to check out the A5+ or other portable speakers in the market.
