When we say “Portable Speaker,” the LG brand seldom crosses the minds of the majority. It is because LG has been known for its TVs and other gadgets. It’s close to a surprise that they would join the fray of portable speakers.
Either way, the LG XBoom 360 is a good speaker for those setting up parties at their homes or hosting small gatherings with their friends. Although not classy enough to stand out, its design is still satisfactory. On this site, we will give a review for you to read over and decide whether it’ll be worth buying or not. While there are many portable speakers in the market, the LG XBoom 360 still manages to shine in its way.
LG XBoom 360 Wireless Speaker: DESIGN
The LG XBoom 360’s design looks like a modern lantern. It’s cylindrical, but it also widens slightly as the speaker stretches downwards, so it looks like a party hat without the pointy end. Instead of the sharp end, you get a small curving metallic grey like the speaker’s handle. There’s also an opening smack dab above the middle of the speaker where the light will emanate from. A thick rubber stand-like cylinder is on the bottom of the speaker so that the lantern-like speaker won’t lose balance if you place it down. It’s also where you can find the USB-A for the USB thumb drive. You’ll also locate the port for a 3.5mm audio jack, the reset button, and the controller for activating connectivity between two LG wireless speakers.
On top of the LG XBoom 360 is where you’ll find the controls for power, lighting, playback, and connectivity. You can decide whether you want the RGB LED lights that you’ll so clearly witness because of the design. The entire speaker has a cloth covering it, giving it the right vibe, so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb whether you bring it outdoors or indoors.
The LG XBoom 360’s measurements are 9.8” x 20.2” x 9.8” (WHD) and weigh about 12.8 pounds.
LG XBoom 360 Wireless Speaker: FEATURES
The LG XBoom 360 was quite a pleasant surprise for us. Aside from the typical features, you see in a portable speaker, there’s one we were quite impressed with. The LG prepared an app for their speakers so you can pair multiple LG speakers to give you twice, thrice, or quadruple the fun! By using the LG XBoom 360 app, not only are you able to connect multiple LG speakers, but you can also toggle with the settings and act as a DJ! You can do many things with the record scratch, electric guitar, the echo, phaser sweep, etc.
Now on to the typical features, the LG XBoom 360 is a little behind on its Bluetooth Connectivity, as the version is still a 4.0. But there’s a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom of the speaker where you can plug your phone into to use the speaker with it directly. You can opt for this if you are a little suspicious of how seamless pairing with the speaker would be.
We all were thinking that the speaker had the upper hand against its competitors in the market with its ability to pair with more than two LG speakers–that is, until we came across its battery life. While 10 hours can be long enough, it pales in comparison to the other speakers that have more than 20 hours of battery life. You even get lesser hours of playtime if you have the LG XBoom 360’s LED lights on. The 10 hours of battery life wouldn’t have become a big deal had it not been for the number of hours the speaker needs to be fully charged. The LG XBoom 360 needs 5 hours to replenish its battery life completely. This part is a bit of a disappointment. But if you don’t mind waiting, then maybe you can work it out with the LG XBoom 360.
The LG XBoom 360 isn’t water-resistant, nor is it dustproof. It also doesn’t feature Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa. So the LG XBoom 360 is just a portable speaker that you can only stream music with.
LG XBoom 360 Wireless Speaker: SOUND QUALITY
Now, this is probably the part we’ve all been waiting for. With the state of the speaker’s features, you would expect that the audio quality would be better, at the very least. The LG XBoom 360 won’t disappoint you. The speaker’s volume is loud enough to qualify as an outdoor speaker for parties. But never let the volume go any lower than 30% because the bass will be close to non-existent. The music sounds so flat that it kills the vibe.
You can, of course, toggle with the EQ settings through LG’s app. But that won’t help with the flat audio you get when the LG XBoom 360’s volume is low.
LG XBoom 360 Wireless Speaker: PRICE
The LG XBoom 360’s price ranges from $300 to $399, depending on which store you buy it from. If the long charging hours don’t bother you, you’ll like this speaker.
LG XBoom 360 Wireless Speaker: VERDICT
More portable speakers are out there that have better features and lower prices. Although the LG XBoom 360 has good feedback, its battery life isn’t that impressive. Of course, it’s undeniable that the LG speaker packs a very powerful sound. Lowering its volume may not even be an option. So, in that case, the LG XBoom 360 is worth every cent.
Either way, it all boils down to your preferences when it comes to the devices you want.
